The
'Modern Family' actress' mom filed a police report Oct. 6 with the Los Angeles
County Sheriff’s Department saying she found her daughter and Palatas in bed
together at her Montrose, Calif., home on Sept. 24.
The
14-year-old “Modern Family” star involved in a guardianship drama with her mom
split from her older boyfriend “months" ago, a source told the Daily News.
Ariel
Workman and Cameron Palatas, 18, ended their courtship “way before” the young
actress grabbed headlines with her court battle last week, the source said.
“They have been broken up for several months,” the source said. “It is
really unfortunate Ariel's mom has drug Cameron through the mud here.
Everything her mom has said has been untrue.”
But mom
Chrisoula Workman stood her ground when reached by The News on Monday.
She filed
a police report Oct. 6 with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department saying
she found her daughter and Palatas in bed together at her Montrose, Calif.,
home on Sept. 24.
“Yes, I stand by (the police report),” she told The News, referring
follow-up questions to her lawyer. “I can’t say anything more. This is a very
sad situation. Just pray for my family.”
A Los
Angeles judge handed temporary guardianship of Winter to older sister Shanelle
Gray last month, court papers filed October 3 reveal.
The ruling
came after Gray, also an actress, stated through her lawyers that Winter
suffered slaps and insults while in her mother’s care.
The judge ordered Workman to stay away from Winter
pending a follow-up hearing Nov. 20.
“I have never slapped or hit Ariel,” Workman said in her own court
declaration asking a judge to reject Winter’s and Gray’s attempt to strip her
of custody. “I love Ariel very much and will do whatever is in her best
interest.”
In a
statement released last week, Workman said she felt compelled to intervene in
her daughter’s love life because it was moving too fast.
“My fourteen year old daughter has been dating an eighteen and a half
year old man and when I caught them engaging in behavior that I feel my
daughter is too you mentally and physically to understand and fully grasp I put
a stop to it immediately,” she said.
“Being a teenager ‘in love’ I thought she
would cry and sulk and eventually her broken heart would heal,” she said. “I
would have never of dreamed that she would take it to this level.”
Winter’s
guardianship lawyer said the young actress, who plays middle child Alex Dunphy
on the hit ABC sitcom, was coping with the stress of the real-life family feud.
“Ariel is doing well and she has a lot of people who are loving her and
supporting her at this time, and I’m pretty confident that she’ll fare well
through all of this,” Winter’s lawyer Amir Pichvai told People.com.
Winter and
Palatas celebrated their four month dating anniversary Sept. 12, according to
their Twitter accounts.
Palatas,
who’s appeared on the Disney series “A.N.T. Farm,” has since been relatively
quiet about his personal life on the social networking site.
The most
recent post mentioning Winter on his current Twitter feed dates back to Sept.
25, the day after the alleged incident Workman reported to police.
